[edit] Work
[edit] Kennametal, Inc.
Enterprise Collaboration and Cloud Computing Lead (2010 - Present)
IT Leadership Development Program / Project Manager (2008 - 2010)
[edit] U. S. Steel
Developer / Analyst (2007 - 2008)
This job gave me the opportunity to begin to understand the needs and challenges present in the Information Systems of a large manufacturing company. I gained quite a bit of experience working with Mainframe systems, both in terms of programming and simply how they work (COBOL and Natural programming languages, and ADABAS & DB2 databases). The company is taking on an ERP initiative, so it has been interesting to see how they are beginning to migrate existing legacy systems over to the newer ERP systems.
Here is a quick summary of my job accomplishments (see my resume for more details):
- Upgraded Adabas-based User-ID Management System to update an MQ-Series queue to keep records in sync with Oracle databases.
- Analyzed needs and developed a software application using Java and C# to automate the previously manual process of creating a Business Plan (the operating budget) for the U. S. Steel Business Service Center.
- Created and maintained change control documents for all software application modifications to maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
- Created Desk-Instructions and analyzed license agreements for PlanView Project Management System & subsequent upgrade.
[edit] Coalition for Christian Outreach
Youth Director and Campus Pastor (2003 - 2006)
This job opportunity really allowed me to develop my soft skills. My success truly depended on the strength of the relationships that I had built with key people both in the CCO organization and on the La Roche College campus (where I worked). Because of the experience I've gained with this organization, I have an acute sense of the importance of both professional and personal relationships in the work place.
This job also allowed me to improve my public speaking and presentation skills. I spoke with a group of 15 to 25 college students on a weekly basis - and their presence was entirely voluntary. They attended the weekly meetings both out of the desire for community and for learning. They were able to connect and build relationships with other students of similar interests AND to listen and learn from the leaders.
Here is a quick summary of my job accomplishments (see my resume for more details):
- Performed a needs assessment through surveys, interviews and research which were used to create strategies and programs.
- Marketed myself to successfully raise approximately $1,800 per month to fund work and salary requirements.
- Initiated and developed relationships with key leaders and contacts to generate awareness, interest and support for a new non profit organization.
- Created and delivered multimedia presentations on a weekly basis.
