Andrew Heary was a Visiting Lecturer at the Katz Graduate School of Business in 2007-08. He earned his doctorate in information systems and communications at Robert Morris University. He has a MBA from John Carroll University and a BBA from St. Bonaventure University. Dr. Heary has over twenty five years of employment with the leading companies in information systems technology including IBM, AT&T, Xerox, and Accenture.

Heary's research focuses on issues related to re-engineering of the US healthcare system and build-out of an interoperable national healthcare information infrastructure. His dissertation on the "Inhibitors to the Use of Secure Messaging and Online Consultation in Healthcare" is a mixed methods study that identifes the patient care, legal, social, technological, cultural and financial issues that need to be addressed before widespread adoption of a national healthcare infrastructure can happen. His research interests include EMRs/PHRs, technology to structure electronic medical records, architectures for a National Healthcare Information Infrastructure, RHIOs, bench to bedside research technology platforms, and the inhibitors to use of health information technology such as issues with standards and concerns about patient privacy.

He taught BMIS 2034 - IS Planning in Fall 2007 in the Katz MBA/MS-MIS dual degree program and Introduction to Information Systems courses in the College of Business Administration which focused on developing student ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities to apply information technology to increase efficiency, enable growth, and support innovation.
