[edit] What is the MIS Practicum Lab and When is it scheduled?

The MIS Practicum Lab (BMIS 2999) is the version of the IS Practicum that first-year MBA/MS-MIS students should register for. It is scheduled in the Fall semester and meets at the same time and place as the 3 credit MIS Practicum course (BMIS 2056).

[edit] Who should be registered for the Practicum (and how)?

All MS-MIS and MBA/MS-MIS Dual Degree students must complete the MIS Practicum prior to graduation.

[edit] Full-Time MBA/MS-MIS Students

  • First-year Full-Time MBA/MS-MIS Students should be registered for BMIS 2999 during the Fall semester.
  • Second-year Full-Time MBA/MS-MIS Students should be registered for BMIS 2056 during the Fall semester.

[edit] All other MS-MIS or MBA/MS-MIS students

All other students must take the MIS Practicum (BMIS 2056) prior to graduating. This includes:

  • Full-time MS-MIS students
  • Part-time MBA/MS-MIS
  • Part-time MS-MIS students

NOTE: The MIS Practicum is only offered in the Fall Semester. As a result part-time and one-year (i.e. Full time MS-MIS students) must plan ahead to ensure that they can meet this requirement.

[edit] Exemption from BMIS 2411 and leaving the MBA/MS-MIS program

If a student drops the dual degree after a few weeks or term or two, at what point have they taken enough MIS courses to fulfill the Information Systems requirement?

The policy (and intention) is that a student completing the [MS-MIS Curriculum | MS-MIS Core classes]] is exempted from the requirement to take BMIS 2411. Therefore, if a student leaves the MBA/MS-MIS program prior to completing these courses they may have to take BMIS 2411 to satisfy their MBA requirements.
