[edit] KTTI - Katz Team Technology Initiative
The objective of the Katz Team Technology Initiative (KTTI) is to place and maintain Katz at the forefront of (a) providing students with experience and expertise that they will need to effectively use team technologies in their careers as managers and leaders and(b) assisting organizations with the identification, evaluation, and management of the opportunities, benefits, and risks associated with the use of information technology to support diverse, flexible, global teams. The focus of KTTI is not on developing new technologies – but rather on helping organizations, managers, and students develop their ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities to use emerging information technologies to create and support high-impact teams.
Current Developments Under Testing:
| Digital Display Rooms - Providing students with a platform for sharing all digital media for editing in a team setting, the 50" plasma televisions are set up in two team rooms. First reactions from the student population are very positive.
"We look like a high-tech business school now." "I cannot imagine what we did before this. | |
| Brainstorming Room - Equipped with a smart board allowing the recording of whiteboard notes and sharing notes with the team | |
| Brainstorming Notations Room - Rear-projection Smart Technologies board allows for annotation to any digital media. |
[edit] WiiMote Whiteboard Project
In building on work from Johnny Lee from CMU and his Wii remote control applications for low-cost whiteboard, Saahil Goel and I are developing a WiiMote based smart whiteboard for implementation as a pilot in Mervis Hall. This project is a part of the Virtualization and Teamwork Project course which is offered in conjunction with the Current Topics in MIS class with Dr. Brian Butler. The project will go through the project management development stages to deliver a functional pilot followed by an impact evaluation for the tool.
